Reorder Rules
Reorder Rules stores replenishment policies by SKU and supplier. It offers manual and forecast modes, plus location-specific stock-level rules.
Configure a rule
Section titled “Configure a rule”Search for a Shopify product or enter an exact SKU. Select its supplier, choose a replenishment mode, and review cost and quantity settings.
| Mode | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Manual | Compares owned stock plus incoming POs with the saved manual reorder point, then uses the manual reorder quantity. |
| Forecast | Uses forecast demand and supplier lead time to determine effective replenishment. Manual values remain stored for fallback and exports. |
A shared SKU is treated as a stocking identity. Check duplicated SKUs and supplier mappings rather than assuming every product title has an independent rule.
Select reasonable thresholds
Section titled “Select reasonable thresholds”For a manual rule, consider daily demand, replenishment lead time, and a buffer. For example, 5 units per day across a 7-day lead time plus a 10-unit buffer gives a 45-unit starting threshold. Treat this as a planning example, not a guarantee.
Review order quantities against supplier pack sizes, minimums, budget, and storage capacity. Forecast mode needs synchronized sales history and reliable stock sources. Supplier-backed availability can change whether locally buying stock is recommended.
Bulk and location rules
Section titled “Bulk and location rules”The bulk form accepts comma-separated rule values. Review its format and limitations in CSV import/export. Export existing rules before a broad change.
Location stock-level rules store minimum and maximum quantities for a SKU at a specific location. They are separate from a supplier’s general lead time and from physical transfer actions.
From policy to purchasing
Section titled “From policy to purchasing”Saving a rule does not itself submit a supplier order. Review results in planning and configure a separate stock automation rule when scheduled draft creation is intended. Submission and payment capture, where available, remain separate configured actions.
Use Demand Forecasting to inspect coverage and preview automatic reorder-point changes before applying them.
